Bloggers, Wikileaks, Assange: and Bad Journalism.

December 5th, 2010 No comments

Bloggers are oft accused of bad journalism. It’s true in many cases. Bloggers do not have access to the databases, resources and sources that traditional journalists command. Nor do they have the training and professionalism. However, the wikileaks/Assange scandal is creating a very widespread picture of bad journalism in some of the most renowned journals worldwide.

Numerous prestige publications continue to state that Asssange is wanted in Sweden on charges of rape. This is completely untrue. He is sought on charges of not using a condom. One of the women concerned “twittered” about her wonderful night with him – before comparing notes with the other accuser, trying to remove the record of her tweets then going to police to enquire. The first arrest warrant for rape was struck down immediately and many legal sources in Sweden have decried the treatment of Assange.

Many of these same publications accuse him of putting lives in danger by carelessly releasing 270,000 cables to the internet. Untrue. The cables are being redacted to remove such information by the five major News organisations Wikileaks is working with. As of yesterday 871 cables were in the public domain.

The truth is that Wikileaks last major release proved that the USA had been committing war crimes in Iraq recklessly. Over 100,000 civilians dead. Not a single death anywhere can be or has been traced to any of Wikileaks leaks. Ever.

The fact is that the USA is highly embarrassed by these leaks and so it should be: they contain highly embarrassing material. More embarrassing still is the unconstitutional and undemocratic pressure exerted through Corporate America via enterprises such as Amazon and Paypal to try and “hit them where it hurts”.

The only thing that will lead to the full 270,000 cables being released to the wild is if the USA and it’s allies maintain their current stance in the face of undeniable truth. Hillary Clinton ordered illegal spying on senior UN figures. US politicians, broadcasters and other idiots are calling for Assange to be killed. These are criminal acts.

Publishing leaked documents is not as many US legal commentators have maintained.

Vitamin D – The Cost To The NHS of Epidemic Deficiency And The Overwhelming Case For Supplementation.

From Cancer Research UK

The Government’s view

Professor Mike Richards, National Cancer Director, kicked off the session. He acknowledged that the UK spends less on healthcare as a whole than many other European countries. On top of this, we spend proportionally less on cancer care than many of our EU counterparts.

According to the latest figures, around 5 per cent of the NHS spend is on cancer, equating to around £76 per head each year in England ….

Clearly there is a need to increase spend in the NHS on cancer – particularly when the demographics and new advances in cancer drugs are taken into account. As the population ages, cancer is getting more common – Professor Richards commented that the incidence of the disease is increasing at a rate of around 1.5 per cent each year. This means there will inevitably be more people needing cancer care services.

And with great strides in cancer research, many new drugs and diagnostic tests are coming through – offering new hope to people touched by cancer – but at a price. On top of this, the NHS needs to consider the increasing cost of follow up care for cancer survivors (’survivorship care’) – as more and more people survive cancer.

So cancer care costs are certain to increase in the future, and these will need to be met through boosting spending and efficiency in the NHS.

Compare the £76 per head spent on Cancer alone by the NHS to the cost of effective supplementation with Vitamin D3 – approximately £10 per head, per annum.

Now factor in Diabetes:

The NHS is spending £1m an hour, 10% of its yearly budget, treating diabetes and its complications, according to a new report.

Despite advances in detection and treatment, incidence of the disease – which causes heart attacks, stokes and blindness – is spiralling.

GPs are still missing telltale symptoms which mean the disease may remain undetected for many years until irreversible damage has been done, said campaigning charity Diabetes UK.

Some 2.3million people in the UK are already diagnosed but the charity estimated the number of diagnosed and “hidden” diabetics will top 4million by 2025.

The report also revealed one in 10 people in hospital in the UK have diabetes and 60% of inpatients with diabetes have been admitted as emergencies. The total cost to the NHS equates to £9bn-a-year.

Source: The Guardian.

This is another £140 per head of the UK population on diabetes …

Now factor in heart disease .. allergies .. influenza treatment and deaths …. parkinsons .. multiple sclerosis …

How about depression? – another £140 per head UK population per annum. from the estimated cost in 2000:

The total cost of adult depression was estimated at over £9 billion

Source: Imperial College

So we can spend £10 per year on D3 supplements per head of the UK population and reduce NHS spending by say 75% of these amounts (conservatively) – meaning a saving of £271 per head per annum on Cancer, Diabetes and Depression alone. Cancer, diabetes and depression and Schizophrenia are pretty much unknown at the equator.

This amounts to a saving to the NHS potentially of £17.6 billion per annum at a cost of around £650 million for appropriate D3 supplementation and testing …. that’s quite a sum.

Are you getting the picture as to why the Pharma industry is deliberately overplaying the dangers of Vitamin D supplementation?

They can’t patent Vitamin D and they stand to stand to lose an awful lot of money if people are healthy.

The Pope and Irish Paedophile Priests – I Smell a Rat.

February 16th, 2010 No comments

There is no honesty in Pope Rat summoning the Irish Bishops to the Vatican. There is no honesty in his attempts to put things right. Why so?

Because in 2001 Cardinal Ratzinger, as he was then, rewrote the secret doctrine that instructed Bishops on how to deal with sex scandals. He tightened the rules and made sure all such cases were dealt with directly by the Vatican.

Had he truly been interested in improving the situation he would have torn up the thirty year old document, that instructed Bishops to use secrecy, bribes and threats of excommunication to shush up scandals and thrown it into the rubbish.

He would have instructed Bishops to take all such reports directly to civilian criminal authorities.

But he didn’t.

He tightened things up, tied up the loose ends and made a big attempt to push all this under the carpet and keep it there.

Now he is wearing the biggest hat in Catholicism on his head he can not escape the complete fool he made of himself with his actions in 2001.

Those actions have made him complicit in every rape of every child perpetuated by any Roman Catholic official or priest during the last nine years – and the cover-ups, which he personally oversaw.

Too little, too late, Pope Rat.

Child Rapists and “Civil Society”.

From The UK Column:
by Robert Green

In the October 2009 print edition of the UK Column, we reported in our article, “BBC Hides Truth of Girl’s Sexual Abuse Ordeal” the shocking ordeal of Downs Syndrome girl, Hollie Greig, who was horribly abused by an Aberdeen paedophile ring, over a period of ten years. After investigating and planning a documentary, the BBC abruptly dropped the case, despite admitting that Hollie was a reliable and accurate witness. It is important to stress that both the police and qualified medical experts have described Hollie as a competent and entirely honest witness.

…..

Recently a policeman personally told the UK Column that police had themselves experienced their own paedopile investigations suddenly being dropped by senior police officers. He added “If you want to really get to the paedophiles you should look at Westminster”. The implications of this statement are frightening – a paedophile ring amongst our political leaders – the political elite which has control of education and Social Services? The general public needs to open its eyes and confront this evil – and fast.

The fact is we are not civilised. We do not live in a Civil Society. Not when Paedophile rings rule every level of society.

Conspiracy: By Now You Must Be Mad If You Do Not See Conspiracy Is The Truth – And Not A “Theory”.

February 5th, 2009 No comments

First you lost your sense of safety in the world of terror. Then you started losing your freedoms. Now the house is going and the shirt coming off your back. There are a small few alive who remember all this happening to a certain subsection of the population of Nazi ruled Germany.

First safety, then freedom, then your goods …. then … well, you know the answer. So you know it is time to wake up and stop dreaming. Because when they come for you, there may be no one left to save you, if you don’t wake up now. Almost everything you know about the world of human politics is bullshit. Unless you truly discovered it for yourself.

I stumbled across this interesting long quote today. Seemed worth sharing in today’s world.

From Signs Of the Times: “Comments On The Pentagon Strike”:

Richard M. Dolan studied at Alfred University and Oxford University before completing his graduate work in history at the University of Rochester, where he was a finalist for a Rhodes scholarship. Dolan studied U.S. Cold War strategy, Soviet history and culture, and international diplomacy. He has written about “conspiracy” in the following way:

The very label [conspiracy] serves as an automatic dismissal, as though no one ever acts in secret. Let us bring some perspective and common sense to this issue.

The United States comprises large organizations – corporations, bureaucracies, “interest groups,” and the like – which are conspiratorial by nature. That is, they are hierarchical, their important decisions are made in secret by a few key decision-makers, and they are not above lying about their activities. Such is the nature of organizational behavior. “Conspiracy,” in this key sense, is a way of life around the globe.

Within the world’s military and intelligence apparatuses, this tendency is magnified to the greatest extreme. During the 1940s, […] the military and its scientists developed the world’s most awesome weapons in complete secrecy… […]

Anyone who has lived in a repressive society knows that official manipulation of the truth occurs daily. But societies have their many and their few. In all times and all places, it is the few who rule, and the few who exert dominant influence over what we may call official culture. – All elites take care to manipulate public information to maintain existing structures of power. It’s an old game.

America is nominally a republic and free society, but in reality an empire and oligarchy, vaguely aware of its own oppression, within and without. I have used the term “national security state” to describe its structures of power. It is a convenient way to express the military and intelligence communities, as well as the worlds that feed upon them, such as defense contractors and other underground, nebulous entities. Its fundamental traits are secrecy, wealth, independence, power, and duplicity.

Nearly everything of significance undertaken by America’s military and intelligence community in the past half-century has occured in secrecy. The undertaking to build an atomic weapon, better known as the Manhattan Project, remains the great model for all subsequent activities. For more than two years, not a single member of Congress even knew about it although its final cost exceeded two billion dollars.

During and after the Second World War, other important projects, such as the development of biological weapons, the importation of Nazi scientists, terminal mind-control experiments, nationwide interception of mail and cable transmissions of an unwitting populace, infiltration of the media and universities, secret coups, secret wars, and assassinations all took place far removed not only from the American public, but from most members of Congress and a few presidents. Indeed, several of the most powerful intelligence agencies were themselves established in secrecy, unknown by the public or Congress for many years.

Since the 1940s, the US Defense and Intelligence establishment has had more money at its disposal than most nations. In addition to official dollars, much of the money is undocumented. From its beginning, the CIA was engaged in a variety of off-the-record “business” activities that generated large sums of cash. The connections of the CIA with global organized crime (and thus de facto with the international narcotics trade) has been well established and documented for many years. – Much of the original money to run the American intelligence community came from very wealthy and established American families, who have long maintained an interest in funding national security operations important to their interests.

In theory, civilian oversight exists over the US national security establishment. The president is the military commander-in-chief. Congress has official oversight over the CIA. The FBI must answer to the Justice Department. In practice, little of this applies. One reason has to do with secrecy. […]

A chilling example of such independence occurred during the 1950s, when President Eisenhower effectively lost control of the US nuclear arsenal. The situation deteriorated so much that during his final two years in office, Eisenhower asked repeatedly for an audience with the head of Strategic Air Command to learn what America’s nuclear retaliatory plan was. What he finally learned in 1960, his final year in office, horrified him: half of the Northern Hemisphere would be obliterated.

If a revered military hero such as Eisenhower could not control America’s nuclear arsenal, nor get a straight answer from the Pentagon, how on earth could Presidents Truman, Kennedy, Johnson, or Nixon regarding comparable matters?

Secrecy, wealth and independence add up to power. Through the years, the national security state has gained access to the wrorld’s most sophisticated technology sealed off millions of acres of land from public access or scrutiny, acquired unlimited snooping ability within US borders and beyond, conducted overt or clandestine actions against other nations, and prosecuted wars without serious media scrutiny. Domestically, it maintains influence over elected officials and communities hoping for some of the billions of defense dollars. [including scientists, universities, etc.]

Deception is the key element of warfare, and when winning is all that matters, the conventional morality held by ordinary people becomes an impediment. When taken together, the examples of official duplicity form a nearly single totality. They include such choice morsels as the phony war crisis of 1948, the fabricated missile gap claimed by the air force during the 1950s, the carefully managed events leading to the Gulf of Tonkin resolution… […]

The secrecy stems from a pervasive and fundamental element of life in our world, that those who are at the top of the heap will always take whatever steps are necessary to maintain the status quo.

[S]keptics often ask, “Do you really think the government could hide [anything] for so long?” The question itself reflects ignorance of the reality that secrecy is a way of life in the National Security State. Actually though, the answer is yes, and no.

Yes, in that cover-ups are standard operating procedure, frequently unknown to the public for decades, becoming public knowledge by a mere roll of the dice. But also no, in that … information has leaked out from the very beginning. It is impossible to shut the lid completely. The key lies in neutralizing and discrediting unwelcomed information, sometimes through official denial, other times through proxies in the media.

[E]vidence [of conspiracy] derived from a grass roots level is unlikely to survive its inevitable conflict with official culture. And acknowledgement about the reality of [conspiracies] will only occur when the official culture deems it worthwhile or necessary to make it. [Don’t hold your breath.]

This is a widespread phenomenon affecting many people, generating high levels of interest, taking place in near-complete secrecy, for purposes unknown, by agencies unknown, with access to incredible resources and technology. A sobering thought and cause for reflection. [Richard Dolan]

Now, think about the word “conspiracy” one more time and allow me to emphasize the key point: From a historical point of view, the ONLY reality is that of conspiracy. Secrecy, wealth and independence add up to power. …Deception is the key element of warfare, (the tool of power elites), and when winning is all that matters, the conventional morality held by ordinary people becomes an impediment. Secrecy stems from a pervasive and fundamental element of life in our world, that those who are at the top of the heap will always take whatever steps are necessary to maintain the status quo.

And how do they do that? By “official culture.”

So turn off the news and start watching a few things on YouTube like “Fabled Enemies” or anything with Peter Shiff in it or Congressman Ron Paul. Listen to the radio shows of William (Bill) Cooper, R.I.P, at on the hour. Sometimes – often – turn off everything – the TV, radio, the lot – and just sit and listen to yourself breathe. Maybe that is the best thing to do. Stop taking the medicine – it’s a poisonous matrix of lies.
